    Good news. Amtrak's Silver Meteor is returning to the rails in October:

    Now if we can just get full dining car service with cooked-on-train meals back on the Florida trains!

    Good news for those who use Tampa Union Station!

    Plans for major restoration work are progressing, with the City of Tampa issuing this recent RFQ for work at the station:

    We've covered restoration plans for the station before. Friends of Tampa Union Station has worked diligently towards making this renovation work happen.

    Today I had the chance to join the City of Tampa staff to update the Tampa City Council, meeting as the Board of the Community Redevelopment Agency, on needs and plans for Tampa Union Station's future. 

    You can listen to the presentation here:

    Much work is needed, but $1.1 million of the $2.5 million to bring the station into a state of good repair has already been identified.
