The Florida Department of Transportation is reportedly proposing to provide $118 million dollars to get Amtrak running on Florida East Coast Railway if the federal government will provide the remaining $150 million needed.  A total of $268 million dollars is necessary to begin service.  However, the Federal Railroad Administration says it does not know when a third wave of grant opportunities will be.

The story, written by the Jacksonville Business Journal, is also being reported in the South Florida Business Journal.
