Earlier this week, the Senate directed Amtrak to allow rail passengers traveling on trains with checked baggage service to carry firearms in their checked bags.

Amtrak-- which allowed this practice as late as 2002 but banned it after the passenger train bombings in Madrid, Spain, has pushed back on this requirement.
