The simplest, easiest, quickest, and by far the cheapest solution would be for Amtrak to go back to running split sections on its Silver service trains south of either Jacksonville or Orlando to both Tampa and Miami. On average, trains are about ten cars long or so. Most of them have about 4 to 6coaches and 2 or 3 sleepers, plus the food service cars and a baggage car. Ridership numbers have been higher at Tampa than Miami, so it would make sense to run a shorter section to Miami. Run 2 or 3 coaches and one sleeper on the Miami section along with the lounge car, and have the rest of the train continue on to Tampa. A 5 or 6 car train is not going to block the crossing at Miami and the new platform at Tampa is long enough to hold a train up to 12 cars long. There you go, PROBLEM FIXED and for ZERO cost!
